Global’s Make Some Noise
Global’s Make Some Noise is the official charity of Global, the media and entertainment group.
We support brilliant, small charities across the UK, which help youngsters and their families living with illness, disability or lack of opportunity. These charities struggle to get heard, so we unite some the biggest radio stations in the UK and their listeners, to give them a voice and raise money to support their amazing work.
Since our launch in 2014, we’ve raised nearly nearly £7 million, and supported 135 incredible charities and projects around the UK, helping them to provide life-changing support and vital services, that otherwise simply might not be available.
By joining us to make some noise, you can help small charities have a big impact.
Who we help
Global’s Make Some Noise has a unique three-part promise to the charities we support – raising money, raising awareness and raising the bar.
Every year, we award grants to specially selected projects across the UK, which do life-changing work in their local communities to support youngsters and their families living with illness, disability or lack of opportunity.
In 2017, we gave out £2.2million in grants to small charities, which will help provide over 92,000 hours of support to almost 15,000 children and young people over the next two years.
Money from Global’s Make Some Noise will fund a whole range of vital activities and services at the projects – including 7,716 hours of vital mentoring for disadvantaged youngsters, 2,574 music therapy sessions for children who might otherwise struggle to communicate, 7,784 hours of much-needed support for young carers, and so much more.
But that’s not all. We know that these amazing causes can often get overlooked, so we shine the spotlight on them by giving them a voice and raising awareness through Global’s much-loved brands.
We also lend our expertise through a series of masterclasses in areas such as digital, sales and marketing. So, in the future, the projects can make more noise themselves.

Scope
Our mission is to drive social change so that disabled people have the same opportunities as everyone else.
We have ambitious plans for the next five years. We want to raise expectations when it comes to disability. To do this we’re going to focus on the priorities disabled people tell us matter most; supporting them to get the best start in life, live the life they choose and be financially secure.
We want to harness the power of digital technology to improve lives and reach many more disabled people to offer the information they need, be better connected and in control. We want disabled people and others to come together to kickstart campaigns. Challenge attitudes. Influence decision makers. Shape the world around them.
We want disabled people to be fully included in society – in our communities, at home, at school, in work, in our culture.

Sohana Research Fund
The Sohana Research Fund exists to fund promising research projects and clinical trials that aim to lead to effective treatments and ultimately a cure for Recessive Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa (“RDEB”) and other forms for EB. This is a genetic skin condition that leads to blistering and skin loss at the slightest friction. It is “Hard to say. Hell to live with” and children with the condition live in constant pain associated with the burn like wounds that occur. The intense pain and repeated damage leads to progressive disability and severe forms are life shortening due to a malignant skin cancer that develops in early adulthood. There is now real hope of treatments and even a cure for RDEB and the Sohana Research Fund aims to help translate positive findings rapidly to the clinic. SRF is primarily investing in cell and gene therapy research and have just funded a world first gene therapy trial in adults. Our current priorities include a gene therapy trial in children, gene editing projects and delivering an interim treatment.
