Mark Webster Appointed General Manager For The Americas At BGC Partners

New York, 7 July 2009, BGC Partners, Inc. (Nasdaq: BGCP), one of the world’s leading inter-dealer brokers, today announced that Mark Webster, formerly Executive Managing Director and General Manager for Asia, will move to New York in the newly created role of Executive Managing Director and General Manager for the Americas.

Mr. Webster will be responsible for building BGC’s business across the region and expansion into new product areas, both organically and through acquisition. As previously announced, Leonard Harvey who joined BGC Partners from Tullett Prebon has assumed the position of Executive Managing Director and General Manager for Asia. At Tullett Mr. Harvey was Chief Executive Officer, Asia-Pacific.

Mr. Webster, who will assume the role of Executive Managing Director and General Manager for the Americas, added: “Our acquisition of leading Brazilian broker Liquidez closed last month and we are very excited about the opportunities that this offers for further expansion into South America, both to offer our existing products to customers in the region, and to give our global customers access to products from Brazil and other regional markets. There is also significant scope for growth in North America and I look forward to building the team here as we look at new areas including equity derivatives, energy and listed products as well as continued expansion in our core areas of rates, credit and foreign exchange.
